New Beginnings

This piece will be part of my AP Portfolio for the concentration section. The theme of my concentration is, "My growth seen through the symbolism of a skeleton."

This piece is called "New Beginnings" because it is inspired by my motivation for a fresh start. The new year is here and I want to make significant changes to my life to better my mental health and to better myself as a person overall. A skeleton is the perfect way to express my goals because I want to be honest and truthful to myself. It is the bare, naked beauty of a being that can't hide anything from anyone that attracts me to using skeletons for this bit of symbolism. The rose in the skeleton's hand will be colored yellow, a symbol of new beginnings.
