Cyborg Ballerina
This is a little character I came up with while I was spending time with my family in Ukraine. I've never been very big into doing character design myself but have been a big fan of it for a while. So here is why I created this odd girl.
During my travels I spent some time watching an animator, Egoraptor, go over his old, childhood art work and talk about his mindset, skills, and progress. When he was young he mainly drew video game and cartoon characters. Slowly he started making his own characters and as the years went on he would revisit them and elaborate on their concepts. I felt deeply inspired by his dedication as he went from being a scrappy, young high-school drop out to a successful animator, voice actor, and owner of his own company. His path was a very brutal and difficult one but, with his burning passion and commitment, he became wildly successful. Egoraptor, also known as Arin Hanson, is one of the biggest inspirations and motivators in my life. It was when I first listened to him talk about what it took to get where he was and the fact that it was something he could do for a living was what triggered me to want to step into the art field professionally. I had always been told to pick a "practical" career so art didn't make it even close to the top of the list. I owe my life to this man for putting himself out there for everyone to see all the dirty details of his life along with the awesome successes. I can't imagine how far behind I would be in the art world if it wasn't for him and his honesty.
